Hello my name is Kees Portanje, married to Mieke, living near Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Since 1981 I am collecting:
Scootering nostalgia from the 50s and 60s, especially VESPA.

Why?
As a member of the Vespa Club Amersfoort from 1957 until 1963, I made numerous trips on my 1956 150 cc model, and later on my 1959 GS.
I went three times to Italy, once to Spain, and once to the South of France.
In my Vespa Club Period I liked puzzle-trips the most.
In 1961 I met my wife Mieke at the Vespa Club Amersfoort.

In the 50's the scooter was the first vehicle available to the youth, giving them the possibility of independence.

The scooter was a phenomenon of social value, both to man and, especially woman.

I think it is important to preserve existing scooters, keep them rolling, and keep the remembrance of scootering alive.

In 2008 I became honorary member of the Vespa Scooterclub Nederland.
